Look what I found loose in the engine comp.

Hi,

While looking for something else around my engine, I decided to give a twist of the intake nuts. To my surprise, the first one I touched loosened right up with my fingers. I tried a few more that I could easily reach and at least two others were loose. One was riding up the stud.

It should not be too hard for me to get access to all 12, but maybe while I am at it, I should replace the gaskets. Ahh, Porsche ownership!



I never thought about checking them. I wonder what else is loose? I figured they would be frozen after 23 years....

For a quick second there I thought I was looking at a head stud barrel nut and I was starting to tear up envisioning broken headstuds. Glad it's only the intake nuts!

My Air Flow Meter (AFM) clamps were loose. All I had to do was push on it slightly and the thing would shift a little and open up a gap between itself and the rubber 90 degree elbow downstream of it, which would cause an air leak and a slight stumble.

I know I am also missing a few bolts that hold the engine tin together. They are MIA. Must have bounced around and out somehow years ago. I think I may invest in Loc-Tite!

The gaskets are inexpensive enough, so, I will order some tomorrow. Do the insulators (930-110-459-00-M260) need to be replaced as well, if they look ok?
