looking for opinions

I have and '82 Targa that is I Chiffon (sp) in color. At least I think that's what the color is called. It is an off-white or cream color. Anyway, I need to repaint my wheels and since I had a can of paint made up to to the normal touch-ups I was thinking about painting the inner part of the Fuchs the body color. Just looking for opinions. Do you think it would look good.

TIA

The subject of painting the centers of Fuchs wheels is rather subjective, it seems to me. I do not think black goes well with all of the colors that the factory put them on. Likewise with the gold-painted centers used first on the '74 RS 3.0, but against white, red, silver, or green the gold centers look quite nice, such as on the '80 Weissach specials. Other colors which NEVER looked good to me were the red and blue used on RS 2.7 Carreras in the ROW market!

As for another color I have seen used in aftermarket conversions, suck as the bright yellow on some DP 930 conversions, that too was a little 'loud' for my tastes!

Your proposed color does not sound bad, but I have to wonder how the 'natural' clear anodized aluminum centers would work?

It's funny, I'm such a purist that I think for road cars the only colors of the Fuch center should be satin black or one of the factory treatments, such as red for the '84 Club Sport etc. Jeez. Anything else looks *wrong* to me. I need a therapist...

Color-matched Fuchs rule. Take a look at mine at http://www.cheaterswayside.com/911 .

(Thanks, Mark!)

I almost bought a cream '80 SC coupe that had Fuchs with polished "spokes" and satin black "valleys". Very, very nice looking.

Have to agree with bluesky...those blue fuchs he has look way sweet. I'm going to do the same things when I get around to it, but only the inner part. That's basically because the heat over the years has damaged the chrome in the inset areas (they were fully chromed, which I don't like that much even if it's perfect), and to cover it up, paint is useful. As of now, I'm using black...

I think this spring I'm unna pull my Fuchs off and run my 16s for a little while while I get the Fuchs (15s) polished. I think one of the most classic looks is the polished-up look - the whole wheel or just the petals. On a black car (like, say, mine or Jack Olsen's) I think they really set it off.
