205's or 225's on the Front?

I'm moving my 7's from the rear to the front. My question is, should I put 205's or 225's on the front?

The car is used for 50% autox and 50% street.

And I don't want to have to roll the fenders.

I searched other posts and they just confused me more.

depends on the tire somewhat. I would say 205's on the front.
Most Porsche's perform better when there is less tire cantilever over the wheel lip. 225 will fit but might rub on hard cornering.
I run 225's on the front for normal street driving but go with 205 for the track where hard cornering is involved.

I'm a heretic, but I think 225s ruin the sublime steering feel of the 78-89 911s.

I'll take the 205 any day, at least for the street.

Can I ask a stupid question?
Why go to the trouble and expense of putting 7s on the front if your going to use the same tire?
Or are we, in fact using a different sized 205?

Is there less roll with a 7 v 6?

FWIW, I run 205/55 16 front, 245/45 16 rear on 82 SC my daily driver.

Had to roll the front fenders. The Yoko AVS ES100's that I reun perhaps have a heftier shoulder than some other brands, maybe this is why.

Alao, mine is RoW, lowered even a bit more yet. As a street car, I don't think I'd want to ruin the sublime steering feel with larger tires either.

225 is too wide for the stock ront fenders and def too wide for the inner well

205 even hits sometimes

205s already hit not only the fenders on occasion but the inside wheel well at full turn. 225s won't work

Looks like I'll be putting on the 205's then.

The 205's on the 6" wheel will buldge over the sides more than on the 7" wheel. Thus making them stiffer on the wider wheel. Also, the 205 on the 7" wheel will be slightly wider than on the 6" wheel, even though the tire size doesn't change.

I usually like to put 205's on a 7" wheel, but since I have 245's on 9" wheels in the rear, thought the 205/245 combo would be too far apart and maybe too much understeer. So I thought the 225 would bring it closer together. But I don't want to roll my fenders, so I guess it's going to be the 205's.

I have 7 x 9 x 16 fuchs on my 911. I run 225 front and 245 rear. If i had to do over Id go with 205's in the front, for some reason I feel the steering feels heavy to me. I noticed that the drivers side front tire is getting eating up by the fender.....

Soft shocks or high profile tires or bad alignment or a combination can cause the front fender to chew up the tire...

It wont rub if you never turn the steering wheel

Even with 22 front torsion and sway with HDs I have had a signifigant portion of the tire INSIDE the wheel well on a sharp corner and could not turn the wheel as much as I needed and almost ate it into a guard rail.

A lot of this has to do with how you drive.
