Does anyone know if a Bosch SR 17 X starter will fit a 2.0?
I bought an SR17X starter as it claimed to fit a 2.0 but I don't know that to be true.

It better fit, since that is the model starter it came with!

Ok good, my old one isn't broken but I got a rebuilt one so I figured I would swap it in. Is it a bear to install?

Easier than on a 915 ...
1. Put the rear end up on jack stands, and remove both rear wheels. 2. Get a high-quality 3/8" drive 10 mm Allen drive bit, and a 12" extension. A flex-head SK ratchet works best. 3. Clean the recess of the barrel nuts with Q-tips & solvent before attempting to insert the drive bit.

Are the 915 72-on starter motors OK for use on a 69E?

Shaun,
Yes, the SR-17 and SR-68 starters are interchangeable.

Thanks Warren. I had heard that the 68s had a little more oomph to them. My last starter pinion stuck and ate away half my flywheel teeth. I will be buttoning back up soon, want to put the best motor back in.
