thanks scott. but i've driven a LOT of miles in one old car over a year without any hassle with original porsche factory settings. still havent had a problem - is it fluke or is it designed to run fine originally by porsche?

You can't predict when the switch will go bad. I was driving along one night and my high-beams just started flashing on their own. The switch had gone bad. I replaced the switch and added the relays, and it's been fine ever since. Porsche did a lot of great things when they designed our cars, but in many areas (and this is one), there's room for improvement. The relays are a good upgrade...inexpensive and easy to install.

These switches are expensive and a PITA to replace. Why tempt fate?

Yes, do it. The electrical design on these cars is insane. People have posted lists of several things to do - a fuse for the dash lighting is another.
The most elaborate fix would keep the fuel runs away from the electrical runs in the engine compartment... |

Does Sucro sell more robust headlight plugs? The three-pronged plug that connects to the lamp itself? I need a couple of the high-amperage plugs, and I'm not finding them in stores here.
