I'm shipping a trany via grey hound from NC to MA for 70$. If you can get it in a box UPS should do better than 300$

Amtrack Express is about 1/2 the cost of UPS, if memory serves, although you need to pack it very carefully.

Try contacting Consolidated Freightways, I just got a quote of $300 to ship an engine from east coast of America to the west coast of Canada! They have a website and there is a toll free number you can phone and get a quote. It makes it much cheaper if you can get it sent from one of there depots and picked up at a depot.

Try Greyhound - you'll have to go to the bus station but they are quick and cheap.

Yellow Freight shipped a sailboat mast for me from the East Coast to CA for a very reasonable fee, and that is a lot more awkward than a fender, call around.

Plz keep me updated on this, as I am off to Kmart right now for some tape and packing materials to box up a fender to ship also. I'll post when I have final external dimensions. I was thinking UPS oversize? The weight won't be bad (35lbs???) but the dimensions are the killers.
