Need a picture of Turbo twist wheels on 911
 

Does anyone have a picture of a 911 with turbo twists on it?

Thinking about getting a second set of rims around for my 87 and I'm thinking cups or turbo twists. Would be open to other options as well.

Those look nice. I have my original Fuchs still, but have to admit that these look nice. Do they fit on without modification on say an '87 911 or what?

Personally I like the cups better than the twists...but the twists were available cheap and I wanted to get more meat on the ground.

Real cups or twists require a 1 1/2 adapter on the rear and a 1 inch on the fronts. There are some aftermarket cup I's available in sc/Carrera offset but they are pretty heavy.

Keep in mind you're seeing two examples of cars with Turbo Twists and two examples of cars with Boxster twists. Personally, I like the Boxster twist wheels because they have some curve to their profile, where the Turbo Twists are very flat. Just my opin, of course. :)

You need spacers (with much longer studs) or adapters (with their second set of studs) to run the later-offset wheels, which would make switching back to the Fuchs a fairly complicated endeavor. If you want to switch two wheel sets back and forth, you'll be happier if you get wheels with the same offset.

Thanks for the pictures, the spacer issue is something that has always confused me. I've read a lot of posts in regards to them and still do not really understand what I need.

If I understand correctly the aftermarket wheels have a different offset that probably would not require spacers and late model OEM wheels require them?

What offset we talking about? The distance measured from the back side of the rim to the face that mounts to the rotor? I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Anyone have a picture of a spacer mounted to the rotor? Might help me understand what they do and how they work.

Typically, one inch up front and two in the rear will allow for the use of many late offset on an SC or a Carrera. At least that's what the late 16x7 and 16x9 off of a 964 took for MY SC.

Another view, rear

I want to chime in on this.

I have 17" ROH's on my 77 widebody and just bought 18" Turbo Twists for it (They are at the shop awaiting rubber). The 17's are installed with spacers and work OK.

When I aquired my 71 Tub (with rear suspension), I bolted the rear wheels from my 17 on to it to wheel it around and it worked OK - no spacers. Agreed, the suspension was at max travel (no motor) but I was surprised that they wouldfit under the rear fenders.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but...does anyone know if the TurboTwists are directional? Looking at the above pics, I'd say yes, but I've seen pics of other cars with one side having the wheels "backwards".

nope. not directional. the ones above that are must be the boxster wheels.

I've gone the opposite way from original teledials to twists and now Fuchs. The pictures below span about four years the oldest at the top.

What about wide Fuchs instead of the cups, perhaps 9"s on the back?

I have a hub adapter on the rear just like Rarly8's. A bit of warning though, I just got back from a first rate shop (Performance Art) and their Porsche tech (with over 35 years experience) told me that adapter set-up is a safety concern on a driven axel. He told me that you need to go with a plain spacer and longer studs. I just wanted to mention that.
