leather seat repair
Drove the 80 911 Targa into San Antonio yesterday to make the final $3k balloon payment to PO. Yeah.
Noticed the driver's leather seat bottom was torn in one place, ready to tear in another place. Boo. I'm thinking of a repair involving carpet seam tape and low heat source. Any better ideas? |

The stitching was coming undone on my leather seats where the side bolsters attach to the center. I just took it to an upholstery shop and they restitched it and a slight tear for me. $97 . Seemed pricey to me for a simple repair but oh well. The nice thing about leather is that it is repairable.

Might want to think about gluing a piece of leather to the under side of the stressed areas. Perhpas a piece about 2 " wide and the length of the seat, that would hold it for awhile. I'd use an epoxy that remained flexible.
You can also just get one seat upholstered to match the current leather pattern. I did that in another sports car with a Recarro and no one ever even noticed, after awhile, not even me. This works especially well if it's your baby and you typically solo. The leather the passenger seat can be treated to look almost new. Mrdi |

It the tear can be brought together without any peaces missing, your best bet would be to super glue it. It works but you have to be careful to make sure you mate both pieces properly.
