Heater smell/experiment
Yesterday I decided to tackle this exhaust smell in my heating system situation.Knowing that I do not have holes in my heater boxes and all tubes were inspected and intact, I decided it must be the exhaust. I am running a performance exhaust with dual 4" outlets... sounds great, but pushes alot more volume out the back than stock. I ran long tubes attached to the outlets and directed them about 10' away from the car...problem solved. The fan is actually sucking in the exhaust fumes through the grille and dumping it into the heating system. Even going 80 mph down the road! This gives some idea of what the air is doing back there at speed. The stock pipe is slightly extended and bent to the left (into the wind flow) for a reason.
Just a little warning for those living in cold climates considering performance exhausts. |

Well, the simple fact is, you aren't moving much, if any more 'volume' than the OEM banana, at all! Those Webers only move so much air! The velocity the exhaustv is being expelled at is significantly lower, so it definitely needs to exit towards the side and as far angled and extended out past the body as practical for clearance!
