Looking for a few more HP

I am looking to make my stock 86 Carrera just a bit faster. Anyone have experience with the Chip Upgrade for the 3.2 engine? I've seen articles that show from nearly no change to about 15%. Also, curious about how much a cone filter gains? Lastly, any exhaust suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A cone filter will probably give 5 or 6 extra horsies. You won't feel the difference, at least I can't on mine.

Chip probably gives 10 to 15 extra horsies.

Exhaust will not give much unless you go for a SSI style complete system. This will probably give 15 to 20 extra horsies, but also make the car much noisier. I heard a 3.2 with it and thought that it sounded good, but the noise legislation makes it a gamble to drive a car with such an exhaust system (at least here in Denmark where cars are checked every 2 years for illegal stuff).

There are more options, but they are costly.

I added an Autothority chip, cat by-pass and drilled the air box on my 86 Carrera. Those changes netted a seat of the pants HP increase approx. 10-15%. The chip seemed to help low end first gear bucking and high end pulling. Also the chip removed the rev limiter, be careful here. Not much more you can do, this all are the easy steps on 3.2's.
