The gaskets I find at Napa etc. are pretty flimsy and don't hold up.
Between SC-SSI's and MK SS muffler flanges. Any gaskets that are more solid/stronger out there? Thanks.

I made a set from copper sheet (about .003" thick) and stacked 3 thicknesses, they were fine.
Pelican also sells them....

we use the OEM copper clad gaskets with our kits . I have seen some use just a thin skim coat of ultra copper permetex sealent on the inner lip of both sides of the gasket. this typically cures any imperfections.. Not sure if that really and truely is the fix but it does work. I am not a big fan of it.. mostly for the back yard orgin of it

Gunter,
If you could find some HVAC metal tape in rolls wider than 2" [I have seen it in catalogs, but never in person] that would help stengthen the flimsy gaskets NAPA sells! The tape is available in both aluminum and stainless steel, and has very tenacious adhesive that sets up hard and tough when heated. An X-acto knife could be used to trim to final size after sticking the tape to both sides. I believe either aluminum or stainless would work just fine.

PBH:
Thanks for the offer. I have brass shimstock in various thicknesses and may try that. Ben: I'll look for "ultra copper permatex sealant" and read what it says on the tube. Warren: The metal-tape is an interesting concept. Strengthening the flimsy stock gaskets may do the trick. What usually happens is that any imperfections between the flanges lets the gases blow out small at first and getting bigger over time. Thanks for all the suggestions.
