Replacing Hard Engine Oil Line

I am preparing to replace the hard oil line on my 73 911 T that goes from the oil tank to the bottom of the engine. After looking at the new line(from Perf Prods) I noticed that the connections do not have any gaskets on them. Are there supposed to be gaskets? If not, would anyone recommend using a teflon tape or light sealant on the connections upon installation? Since the line probably gets very hot, the tape is probably a no go. Maybe the line doesn't require anything at the connections...it just seemed kinda odd to me. Thanks for any help.

The connections ... and I am assuming you are talking about the 30 mm scavenge line fittings, are kind of like A/C or AN fittings, except that it is more of a spherical rather than a conical part being compressed into a receptacle. In any case, no sealant or tape is needed! The leaks usually occur at the swaged ends of the rubber hose, unless the 'hoop' under the bellhousing has hit something and loosened the 30 mm fitting at the engine.

I am referring to the completely metal oil line that is curved and travels under the engine. Mine was old, rusty, and leaked at the connectors, so I bought a new one. It doesn't look like the new line is made to have gaskets, but I haven't had a chance to remove the original line yet...it is cold here in Virginia. I noticed the line when I removed(cut) my original heat exchangers from my car. They too were rusty, so I purchased a pair of SSI's from Vertex. I also have two new heater/flapper boxes, hoses, gaskets, and exhaust gaskets. The winter crept up too quick! Thanks for any help!

I assume yo got the 911.107.722.00 line, and it is a three-piece line as I described, with metal screw-on fittings at both ends.

I purchased part number 901684 from Performance Products. I had a chance over the weekend to get under the car again and I noticed that this part is very similar(in shape, length, and mount point) to the original part, but this part has bolt type connections on both ends, where the original part had a bolt type connection on the end that connects to the engine, and a crimp type connection to the soft line that connects to the oil tank.

Nevertheless, I see now that I need a new soft line that connects part 901684 to the soft line. I went ahead and ordered part number 902089 from Performance Products. I really hope this part works, since the PP book says that it is for a 1974 model and my car is a 1973. Will this part work, or should I have purchased part 901685?

The PP book says that these parts are for cars without front factory oil coolers(Mine has one though). I looked in some other catalogs, but they didn't really specify what part I needed to complete the line. Let me know if you have any further suggestions...

Also, is it possible to replace the seal for the oil sending unit without removing the oil tank?
