what do the original fuchs center caps look like?
 

I have seen several different center caps for these wheels and would like to know what the CORRECT caps look like. Mine are for a 1985 carrera with the 16x6s and 16x7s with black centers . The caps have inlaid crests and are a slightly different color black than the spokes-seem to have a copperish tint to them.

The copperish tint is probably the anodizing yellowing with age. This is the stuff they put over the wheel so that even cat spray can't stain the wheel. Amazing stuff; had to have the wheel dipped at a chrome shop to get it off.

I too am very interested in what caps went with what cars. I resprayed my Fuchs and painted the center cap to match. Thought about the gold inlaid paint in the crest but thought better after I saw my new Ford Arrogant SUV with the gold-plated "Byzantine" package. Yuk!

Well, on every set of Fuchs I have ever seen at a dealership on new cars, the centers always matched the 'color' of the spokes, whether natural aluminum, black-painted, or gold-painted! The same is true in factory brochures I have.

Maybe a previous owner got 'creative' with some paint and decided not to go all the way!

My experience is that the color of the center caps usually match the painted color of the wheels. My two 911's have Fuchs wheels with black centers; the center caps are also black. As a matter of course, whenever I repaint my wheels, I always repaint the center caps so they match the wheels.

You will occasionally see the Porsche crest on the center cap painted to match the Porsche emblem.
