Zenith unknown pipe/hose

I've rebuilt my Zenith 40TIN carbs over the winter and just reinstalled them today. I documented everything so meticulously that I was completely bummed to find I hadn't taken a pic of the setup before I pulled them out. So now I have one extra pipe sticking out of the left carb that I can't find a hose for!!! Can anyone set me straight as to what's missing (if anything) in the pics below? I have one hose running from one carb to the other (see 2nd pic) which I believe is for vacuum. But should the pipe in the first pic just be unattached? If memory serves, there was one unattached pipe in the before I pulled them, but it doesn't seem right. After setting the screws to the baseline for tuning I was able to start the car and drive it a bit, with no fuel spilling anywhere in the engine bay.

(just to clarify, both pics are of the left carb, taken from above and to the right.)

Thanks for any help!!

Chris

Chris, I'll take a look today and let you know. My recollection is that in my car this hose runs up to an outlet at the top of the of the carb that is a little further back. This is going to be hard to describe and my camera is at work.

I'm also putting my car back together for the upcoming year. I'm going to see if she'll start today too.

I believe the pipe goes to the electronic solenoid on the opposite side of the carb. Seems to me there was a small brass "T" involved.

Ok, I found an extra unattached hose - yes, it goes to the distributor. So I've got the rear pipe which is attached to the banjo fitting on the left aux. enrichment thingy (house-shaped) attached to the hose running to the right carb T-connector, which as best as I can tell also goes to the aux. enrichment thingy on the right carb. The front pipe is now going to the distributor.

Thanks guys!
