I would of remembered seeing that before, my first time - thanks.

RickM 03-23-2007 12:37 PM

That is amazing.

turbobrat930 03-23-2007 01:05 PM

In..fricking..credible.. WOW !!!!!!

david914 03-23-2007 01:12 PM

What a labor of love! It would be difficult enough to build a full-sized replica, but in miniature? Absolutely magnificent!

defcon65 03-23-2007 01:39 PM

Fascinating...and a little weird, too. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. He really needs Ralph, the motorcycle riding mouse from Beverly Cleary's children's book, one of my favorites from the third grade.

DarrylD 03-23-2007 01:58 PM

So there! My 912 restoration project isn't so crazy after all! At least I can sit in mine!

I remember seeing an article on that car a while back in a magazine, maybe road and track?

Pretty darn cool, but I think he needs to get out more... :)

Cheers

WolfeMacleod 03-23-2007 03:41 PM

That maks me wan to cry.
We need Dyno scans!:D

randywebb 03-23-2007 03:44 PM

Yes, he out did you Darryl.

I think the F factory should buy it or at least have a reception for the guy. Or maybe hire him.

the 03-23-2007 03:51 PM

That's been around for years, but it never gets any less incredible.

I don't even see how what he is even possible! 20,000 hours is a lot of time.

He should put it no eBay, no reserve!

Dantilla 03-23-2007 03:51 PM

I'm not sure if he should be congratulated, or committed.

Amazing talent and patience.

tdatk 03-23-2007 04:21 PM

That's beyond amazing, just making the valve train, P&Cs ,cams etc is incredible. Fuel management? Gearbox? Scale eletronics?
WOW

RarlyL8 03-23-2007 05:07 PM

32hrs a week for 12 years?
This guy has a perfectly machined 1/8 scale screw loose.

eddiehotrod 03-24-2007 10:33 AM

Thanks for the memory defcon65. I haven't thought about Runaway Ralph for 30 years. Didn't he have half a ping pong ball for a crash helmet?

Geronimo '74 03-24-2007 10:42 AM

two words: RE SPECT!

johndglynn 03-24-2007 12:56 PM

The clip is from Jeremy Clarkson's Extreme Machines, a pretty good TV series from a few years back now. Pierre even made his own spark plugs for the car and had to learn how to make glass so he could do the lamp lenses - not plastic. I think the gearbox was the only thing he couldn't do due to tooling, and the firm who made the full size version did much of it. He had a lot of help from the factory so they are well aware of his stuff.

Pierre Scerri's website here says he is in Toledo on April 21 & 22, to accept an Internet Craftmanship award. The whole concept and execution is mindblowing, I love it.

That's right, I forgot about that! Remember the passages where the motorcycle sound was written: p-bbb, p-bbb? My teacher could never do that sound right, so when she read aloud and we followed along, I got to do it. What a ham. I may have to visit the children's section of the library and check it out, incognito, of course.
