Seat Belt Retractable Reels
Hey gents...I'll tell ya, you go to sit in the passenger seat (911T -73) and you grab the belt and you have to pull, expand, stop.....pull, expand, stop.....and on it goes. By the time you get the belt on, your already 500 miles down the road! To get it back on the reel so it does not droop over the seat, you have to hand feed the reel with patience. I know these internal springs are wound up tight, or so I am to believe, but is there anyway to repair or improve upon them without opening it up and having the spring pop out in your face? Anyone suffer the same problem, or better yet does nayone have a spare right side belt/reel lying around they would like to part with?
Thanks. Sailor '73T |

The reels can be used on either side. They are trouble to try to disassemble. In fact, they are trouble to try to repair at all. Used ones are out there, though, I just don't have one for you.

I put ones from a 964 in my 73 911. They're pretty interchangeable, and it's nice to have dark black belts again.
