problem with fiberglass doors
as you can see in the photos i have an alignment problem with the side window framee. I'm using new rennspeed fiberglass doors with the original framees, windows and winder mechanism. when i set up the framee without the glass in it aligned correctly without any adjustment. however when i put the glass in and installed the winder mech. the window is so tight in the framee that the winder won't raise or lower the window - the fiberglass it's mounted to just flexes. i can help it move but just a little. you can see the frame is more upright in the opening and does not align correctly. the head scratcher is that the frame is bottomed out along the top of the door - just as it was without the glass in. i can't just tilt the whole assembly. i think the window is improperly angled in the frame causing the tight fit. is the angle the winder mounted at determining the angle of the window? does anyone have any ideas or experience with this? is the fiberglass strong enough for the winder mech. or is a reinforcement needed typically?
thanks! -Matt

I think you may have to try adjusting the window frame with the glass in the rolled up position. Once you get it dialed into is't place relative to the roofline then you should be able to roll the window down easily.
By the way, if you are using those reman'ed window felts they are always way to tight.

Just wondering, How is the fit and finish on your doors outside of the window frame adjustments?

I haven't seen fiberglass doors and don't have my panels off right now, but what about shimming between the window regulator ( winding mechanism) and the door. FWIW. Don.

the fit and finish on the doors is better than the rest of the fiberglass - very little needed to be done to get them to fit. the hood and fenders needed a lot of work to align. I think the regulator is the problem, if it is bolted at the wrong angle the window will be at the wrong angle and the fram must align to the window. that would explain why the frame is off from when i fitted it without the window. the hard part about the fiberglass doors is that no holes are drilled so you have no reference to start with. i basically started with getting the latch to work, then adjusting to get the door to align to the fenders. after that the window frame and now the window. it's not that bad but i must admit that i was thinking of making lexan windows and getting rid of the crank regulator.
