Five long months!

After five long months I was able to start and drive my car! I can't believe that after all that time it started right up and idled without ever touching the gas! I gave it two quick clicks to turn it over and then about three seconds with the key to start and it fired right up! Not a bit of smoke and not a drop of oil on the mat that is under the car. I let it idle for a few minutes and was off.

No flat spotting since I had bumped the tires up to 50 psi and it drives great. Can't wait to get it out for a long drive! It's a ***** to live where you have to park your toys!

Porsche Crest

Nothing like waking them from their slumber. I've got to trek out to Howell next week and may see about taking the SC out for a little cruise down 696/96 to get out those winter kinks.

Man it was nice to get the car out for the first little jaunt after a winter hibernation. I've been looking forward to this months. I feel sorry for guys out west/south who don't get this "experience" every spring. An aligment next week and then I'll be ready for the first road trip in '07.

We had an unusually warm winter down here in Raleigh, NC

My Porsche's hibernation only lasted about 2 1/2 weeks.

5 months?? You're parking that car too early. I drove mine into January. Took it out for the first time since 2 weeks ago. It was a very nice experience. We had a warm spell of 65 degrees so I washed it and have driven it a few times since.

Howell! That isn't far. We should get together some time. My car ('85 911) has been on the road for a while now. Are you in the PCA? You should come to some of the events. We are having a Spring Kick off on April 28th and the RSR is doing somthing too that day. But you aren't far away and we should get together sometime this summer for sure!!!

Where are you at SLO-BOB?

About 150 miles east/northeast of you. Very close to Road America/Elkart Lake WI.

Only good thing about the winters up north is that you've got 5 or 6 months to do repairs where you can't really enjoy the car anyway. You CAN drive it, but it's not enjoyable.

I'm taking my car to the auto glass shop today to get the windshield replaced as I took a large rock to the windshield on my drive to FL. This time of year can be frustrating because the weather is so unstable but I really enjoy the way the car feels like a brand-new car to me every spring when I get to drive it again!!

Mattlock18 - If your heading this way make sure you go to Hell and back! Well, Hell Michigan that is! There are some great roads south of Pinkney. Take D19 south then head west to Hell and on to Gregory then through town to M36 back to the east. There are many great roads in this area.

WCC - I do belong to the PCA (almost 15 years now) since joining when I lived on the west coast. I belong to the SE Michigan chapter. Send me a pm when you are going for a ride in this area and we can get together. I have a number of co-workers that have P cars and may have a little ride in this area when the weather breaks. I will keep you informed if you want to join us. I am also planning to do the spring run the SE Mi chapter puts on weather permitting.

Hey Dave,
I was in the SEM chapter until two years ago when I moved over to the RSR gang. The Motorstadt group out of Lansing is a fun bunch. I did my last run of the year with them. Kepp me on your list when you put a ride together. I'm up just north of Flint. Bill(wcc) and I get together quite often. In fact, I'm going over to help do his brake upgrade/rebuild on his 930 Sunday. Yep, driving the ol' SC!

Will do Wayne! I'll scout out a nice route and then set up the drive in a month or so.
