Paint and Bohdy Shop - Vancouver BC Area
Does anyone have a suggestion for a paint and body shop in the BC Lower mainland.
I have no issues with a a backyard type guy if he is well equiped and does great work. I think they are typically easier to deal with. I would like to do all the removal work I can to lower the labour cost. I will also want to pull all glass and probably replace most or all of the rubber. Commments? Suggestions? ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am looking to. I would prefer a hobbiest type operation. I also would remove all trim and glass and could even block the car some....
Cheers

I'll be getting my 58 VW Bus painted in the next month or so. I'll see how it goes, before posting a recommendation. Your 79 looks beautiful.

Bump Again.
Please tell me there are some Lower mainlanders out there that have had paint done. I'd even take the names of places not to have it done at. At least that would be a start.

I won't say on the internet where not to go. But two of my previous Porsches were painted at a renowned shop in Vancouver, just off Burrard and they had 2k paint jobs that people spent 5k on. Nothing wrong with getting a 2k paint job if you only spend 2K.......
I hope to find some hot rod types out here in Langley that can do my car. Cheers

From what I understand Langely is a hotbed of old muscle.
Let us know what you find.

One needs to be careful....
![]() Back when the owner was starting out and did some of the work, it was second to none. Now it is a factory. I don't doubt they can straighten a bent car and they do make factory approved repairs for a lot of makes. Hell, a fair number of the exotic and expensive car dealers in town use them. Infact, if my car got smacked hard, that is where I would send it. But, for a guy looking to paint a sub 40K car, I say look elsewhere. Now if you have change to spare and want a paint job that is worth every penny, Go see Corvo (SP) over on 4th just off Cambie by the Police station. There you will get a 6k paint job if you spend 6K.... John, I am currently doing the searching. The last guy I had recommended has retired now which is a shame. He restored a couple of 20's fords for my "second Father" and they are consistent show winners. I am sure I will find a place. My current plans are to stop by the backyard shop of a guy near me and make some inquiries. On the surface his work looks promissing. Cheers

i agree jeff. when they first started they were good . then all that icbc money went to their heads . companies use them because it's company money.
they are not interested in a guy coming in with his car just wanting a decent job. you need to find someone who really loves the pcars and wants to do it . |

well, not the lower main land, but mid island i have had 2 experiences .
first was the complete windows out, fender-off paint job by one of my dads friends-friend...VERY shinny, but very prone to scratches....: did not last, ![]() and then the really nice experience...though once again, you get what you pay for....and i probably payed for their brand new spray booth.... this was done at TC Valley in courtney. they specialize in alot of american hot rods, but my mechanic tested the waters, with his car first: ![]() and then my own....both fo which invloved ALOT of metal work. ![]() now.... depends how extreme you want to go on the repaint....but i can persoannly say that TC also has great customer service. -i figured each picture was worth a thousand words... ![]()

Hey Jeff - I'm *subscribing* to your thread even though I know you hate it when people post just to say that they are *subscribing*.
I'm subscribing because even though my car's for sale, I actually might give give my head a shake and decide to spend a little money on a paint job instead of spending a lot of money on a 996. If there's a good sub $5K paintjob to be had then I would like to hear about it. Hhheyyy - come to think of it, maybe you'd be willing to put in a few hours of back date work in exchange for a few $$ when your project is done. Post ya later.

Man, bringing up a rant I had after one too many sleemans....
![]() My initial research indicates there is good work to be had for more like 3k. You pull the trim and windows. Backdate, did someone say backdate??? You bet, I have a twin plug turbo motor showing up next month for rebuild but I am sure I could fit in some back dating work...... But then I will have to sell my own bumpers and backdate my car too... Jasper, are you comming to the Garage and Beer night at my place on March 1st? Cheers

Sorry Jeff - I don't think I ever responded to your email about teh back bumper (how rude). I'm deep in the throws of a 996 purchase, so no, I won't be needing your bumper. How about you buy my car? Good value for you buddy!
