PO lost part, Used baling wire.

86 coupe. On the cruise control cable, the square outer sheath of the cable end is mounted in a bracket. There is a part missing that holds the cable sheath in place in the bracket. PO used numerous circles of baling wire around the sheath to take up some, but not all, of the slack. It is probably some sort of plastic clip, probably square in shape.
I can't find this missing part in my fiche.
Any help??? Bad luck would be "Available only as part of cable assembly."
Small wonder the cruise control did not work properly.

There is no missing part, your cable sheath has fractured. The only correct fix is to replace the cable assembly, not cheap. I used small wire ties as a tempo fix on an '86, one tightly around the cable and a couple around the bracket through the one on the cable. Juan is right, if this is left loose, the cable can get stuck out of place and cause a very high Idle.

I can verify all this. Even the stuck high idle. Mine has come apart near the throttle body. the cable sheath end can still be slid inside the bracket there, it just does not always stay. I intent to use glue to fix this. Superglue maybe, very possibly epoxy though.
