Engine lid not closing or fitting right, any suggestions
 

My trunk/engine lid was not fitting right. The top left corner was way high and the lower right corner was low. My mechanic recommended removing two was that was under the bracket connect to the lid. Tried that, closed the lid and tried to open it again by pulling the lever and it wouldn't pop open. Got it back open and put the washer back, and now still won't pop open. Things are way misaligned now and you can see the top left corner all the way down the lid is sitting real high and is almost like it's not latched but it is. The left side is still sitting a little low. When I'm about to close the lid the spring/latch mechanism sits way to the left and does not go straight into the hole.
What do I need to adjust. I had a similar situation and here is what worked for me;

remove the lifter shocks from the deck-lid

remove the lower catch assembly

loosen the hinge attachments

remove the rubber bump stops

remove any washers and or spacers in between the hinges and the deck-lid

carefully lower the lid

eyeball the lid from several angles to determine what needs adjustment

install the rubber bump stops and adjust

lower the lid again and check

tighten the hinge mounts

lower lid and determine if spacer washers may be needed.

adjust as necessary and tighten

if everything lines up at this point you should be able to attach the lifters

check to ensure the lid closes correctly and then attach the latch and adjust as necessary

Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to try this myself. Anyone else have this problem. I seems like it would be a common problem.

Sometimes it is difficult to get the deck lid fit right when a tail is added with the single non-tail shock (pushing the hinge/deck lid up on one side). It's typically an issue when a "heavy duty" or dual-shock mount is used on that single side, as the standard single shock isn't strong enough for an oem tail.
If you haven't already, you might want to source out a hinge with a shock mount for the other side, so you have one on each side (like the factory-tailed cars have). The firewall shock mount should already be in place fon the other side. Then, I would follow the above advise.
