Oil Pressure Gauge acting funny.
So I get the new numbered oil temp gauge installed with correct sending unit and I now have a wierd situation to deal with. My oil pressure gauge reads fine up to 3000 rpm. Once the engine revs over 3000, the pressure needle starts to bounce all over the place. bring the revs down under and the neddle settles right down and holds steady. Someone suggested a plug wire may cause interference and another has suggested that the new temp sending unit may not be comaptible with the older pressure sending unit. Anyone have experience w/ this?

It could be as something as simple as a poor connector (loose) at the pressure sender. Engine vibrations cause the electical contact to become random and that makes the needle jumpy. This is not uncomon.
For peace of mind check your voltage across the battery while you rev the engine. If the regulator is shot this would also lead to jumpy gauges. Good luck, Ingo

Poor connection it was.... the connector was shaking back & forth on the spade.
I love the easy fixes.

Yep - these are the best fixes: Low-cost and yet they make the car so much more enjoyable. Glad it worked for you,
Ingo
