Difference between H1 and H4 headlights?
 

Any difference in the headlight or is it just the bulb? I can't seem to find anything in the search?

Difference? About $700. :D

Other than that, they're very different. H4's use one H4 lamp and a single reflector. The H1's use two H1 lamps, each with their own reflector. The lenses are different as well to accommodate the different reflector configuration.

Precisely ! H4 is really good , and cheap , both filaments in one bulb.

H1 is more expensive , one bulb serves one purpose only.

Mainly since H1's have two reflectors and two bulbs, you can point each reflector to shine the high and low beams in different directions if that is what you prefer. H4's have both filaments in the same bulb, hence the need for a single reflector.

If you are working on an early 911...73 and previous, I recommend the use of H1's. They are period correct and have a unique look when driving with low beams....cat-like. Since they are rare....they are pricey. See pic of my 70 911.

I remember a guy selling a NOS set 2 years ago for $1500. At the time that was a lot of money. That is nolonger the case. H4's are great....I use them on my 930

Not the base rings. H1's have four adjuster screws, H4 have 2.

I have H4's already, but never knew the difference. I didn't know if it would be a upgrade or not.
