car pulls to the right

I have had my car aligned and replaced the front tires - still pulls hard to the right. Brakes are not hanging up, wheel bearing play is ok. Any ideas what to do? 81'SC

Find a different alignment shop that knows how to adjust more than just the front toe-in on a 911! A full, four wheel alignment will get rid of the problem ... if done properly by someone with 911 experience.

Apparenlty there are all kinds of alignment that can be done. What is an alignment to you?

Perhaps the corner scales are off?

Perhaps the rear alignment was not done?

Perhaps the Caster was not done?

Does your call pull when you are driving or when you brake?

If the caster and camber are in spec I'd be willing to bet that your corner weights are off. This is when the opposite corners of the car are carrying a majority of the load, efectively teetering on them. This causes one front wheel to have more load than the other, causing a pull. Take the car to a specialist who can align and set corner balance for you. It's worth the money.

yes, a full alignment was done-front & rear. Caster reading is 5.0 in the left and 5.8 on the right. Is that too much differance between the two? Also, if the weight is more on the left side, will it pull right or left?

It will pull to the more heavily loaded side. More weight on a tire= more tire drag. As far as the caster, .8 is maybe a little on the high side but you want it to be more positive on the right to help compensate for road crown pull. That's probably not it. Although if it helps, with 5.8 on the right and 5.0 on the left, it should pull to the left on a perfectly flat road. Caster differences do not cause as much pull as camber differences however.

Could your corner weights off? If there is more weight (jacked by the height adjuster) on the right front, the car will pull right during braking.

Check the ride height all around. If the left front is lower than the right front, chances are the corner weights are off. Raise the left front using the height adjuster.

Of course, scales would work best.
