First backdate ever?
So I was thinking of this today... did people "backdate" these cars like the heat, a/c deletes and other what not when they were new like we do now that they are 20 years old.
Would seem odd to me to plunk down 40 large and start taking parts off.... |
I don't think so.
When these (SCs and Carreras) were new, no one was doing any backdating. In fact, the big thing was "up"dating (up in quotes for obvious reasons!) the early cars with big bumpers, rear reflectors, late seats (who wants those old fashioned sports seats when you can have these newfangled tombstone seats!), etc. |
Interesting question.
With 356 and early 911s Porsche always came up with something new and better. Up-dating was the norm. With the advent of emissions regulations, there was a serious push toward back-dating. That still continues today. If you have a new 997, there are ’07 GT3RSR updates and ’03 backdates that are advantageous. It never quits. Best, Grady |
