Thermostat isn't opening, what to replace?
Oil temps is getting hot even though ambient is low and front oil lines to front/center cooler are cold. I see the housing but not sure what needs to be replaced as my manual just shows a pressure relief assembly in there. Any DIY's on it somewhere?
Thanks! |
Gary:
If the fender-mounted thermostat is not opening, you should replace the guts of the thermostat;# 930.107.155.00. You'll need to clean it all off very thoroughly and then carefully open it up. Patience is rewarded, here. :) |
Thanks Steve, I found a Tech article over on Rennlist and just ordered the insert from Wayne.. should be here in time for next weekend!

Assumng you have narrowed it down to the external t-stat, you will need the following:
Regulator (930.107.155.00) Ring seal (900.123.136.30) The regulator is under the big round threaded cap on the side. You can replace the pressure spring/seal as well (under smaller cap on bottom) "while you're in there" but the problem should be cured with a new regulator. The pressure spring is PN: 900.280.008.00. The ring seal is PN: 900.123.075.30. SmileWavy EDIT: Dang, I knew I left that "reply" window open too long. Good work Steve! |
Thank you Eric, all set now... will report back on the completion and results.

Are those part numbers for Gary's 930 or the SC or are they the same?
