Looking for proper name of part
 

Hi,

My rear deck lid on my 77 911 does not stay down. What do you call those pieces that somehow attach to somewhere in the engine bay and then protude out through the lid. I've seen them on the front lids as well. Just not sure what they are called and where they sell them. Any help appreciated.

I call them hood pins. You can buy them at any autoparts store for $8 I think... maybe it was $14 I forget. You get 2 of them per package. I was at the 901 Shop the other day and saw a 911 with a single right where the OEM latch is. Very nice.

Before you go drilling holes thru the top of your lid, look at the RSR type of rubber hold downs used at both lids. I looked for a pic for 5 minutes and can't find one. I can't use the search since it changed anyway. I put in "rubber hold downs" "search titles only" "911 tech forum" and "this exact phrase" and get 40 pages of nonsense, most of which don't have even 2 of the words, much less all 3. But dozens of guys here have them.

yikes, why not adjust your latch properly so the lid stays down like the other millions of 911s on the road???

Someone please post or copy or pic of the hold downs as used on the rear. It may not be possible to use the RSR configuration on an impact bumper car. I know there was some discussion about that in the archives. In my mind, the reflector is in the way of a proper, aesthetic install. I was hoping it could be done when I suggested it. In the long run, it might be best to either fix the problem by adjusting the original latch or get a new part that holds. I know I had the same problem on the '71 S at both ends and I consider myself pretty good at aligning and adjusting the latches and door catches.
