European Model

I'm looking at a European 83SC. Anybody know the differences? It's been certified, guy has documentation. Is there a resale or any other disadvantage with that kind of purchase? In a purchase should I consider a % discount because of its background over a US spec 83SC thanks Barrier

I have Euro spec car and it has stock 204 HP by higher compression pistons. I see no reason to consider it a liability that it is a Grey market car. George Wroclawski 83 911SC Cab/Euro

From the factory, the Euro (also referred to as "ROW or Rest of the World") 911's has 204 hp, as opposed to the 180 on US cars. This was largely due to the Euro cars having different pistons giving a 9.8:1 compression ratio, as well as retaining the CIS fuel injection with an air pump and without an o2 sensor. I would imagine that this car would still meet smog test requirements. Some other minor differences would be the lack of a passenger side outside mirror, euro taillight lenses, and side markers. I would say go for it if the car is clean and checks out ok with an experienced Porsche wrench. There are many postings on this board (you can search the archives) with regard to Grey Market cars such as the one you are looking at. I believe that most people have had great experiences with them and have not had trouble with licensing, emissions, etc. They are, essentially the same car, aside from a few minor differences, they use all the same parts, etc. But the power boost sure must be nice! Best of Luck, Nick. ------------------ __________ Nick Shumaker 1982 911SC Coupe
