The 16x7s will fit but the 16x8s will only fit if you have SC/Carrera flares in back.

Be sure to check the inside area of those wheels for a stamping with the size (the width will read either 6J, 7J, or 8J) I got a set of wheels from an 81' SC being told they were 8's and 7's too. This was very early in my restoration project and I didn't know the difference visually. They were 7's and 6's. Bought 8's separately and am trying to sell the left-over 6's.
Tyson is correct...I grafted SC flares onto my 72' 911 and 8's / 7's fit nicely with 245/45/16's (rear) and 205/55/16's (front). |

In case anyone is interested....the 993 wheels will fit under SC flares.
You need the turbo spacers as the offset if different and the 16x7 and 9s look very good. The rear fender handles the 245/45 very well and unless you have a class restriction I've seen up to a 275/45 fitting too.... |

What do you mean by turbo spacers? Can you describe what they look like? I have an 84 turbo look suspension, they should be on there right?

Early turbos had spacers that pushed the Fuchs wheels out for a wider track. They are something like 27mm in the front and 54mm in the rear...please don't hold me to those numbers...but the spacers are like adapters, with five studs either sticking through...requireing longer studs or an extra set of studs pressed into the spacer.
When Porsche changed the offset on later wheels, the only way to use later wheels on early cars, was to use the spacers....I can show you some pics of my 83 sc with 993 wheels if you like... http://www.nosubstitute.org/events/SdAutox6Jan01/P1060006.jpg [This message has been edited by mikez (edited 01-17-2001).] |
