A precaution using a 12V test lamp:
Modern ECU circuit sensors operate at/or about 5v and low current. If a 12V test lamp is connected to test for available/source voltage, the system will attempt to supply12V. The resulttant excess current draw could damage the ECU.

Fluke 87, I have a 787 sourcing fluke, but really an 87, shouldn't have any problems finding one for a good price

I’ve shot millions of loops at work , not one on a 911 ....

:D

My home fluke is a 787 too though , (As well as an Emerson 475 ;) ) and perhaps the easiest and best of all is a little t6-1k that fits in your back pocket ..

mainly 789 And 754 for work though , and the 773 is pretty good for clamp-on 4-20mA ..

What do you think about fluke 117 multimeter? I am thinking to buy this multimeter. I have no idea about the best multimeter. Just read about the best multimeter and find there a list. Among that list, I think 117 could a good choice. Please share your personal experience about this multimeter.

That's a good one and should do fine for working on your car and around the house.

That is a very nice meter and more than most will need.
Fluke meters have very good fusing that protect the meter and the operator from being damaged.
This is what makes them a good investment. My at home meter is an old Fluke 23 that I have owned since about 1994.
Some of these older Flukes are available at very reasonable prices and still serviceable by the manufacturer for repairs and calibration.

you don't need an expensive MM.
I have expensive 87's and a cheap craftsman. the craftsman works fine.
test light works great too.

just used the TL on my BMW starter the other day,
by myself so I propped the TL on the start wire, put my phone on video and hit the ignition sw. I could see the light light just fine on the video.

I have chosen Hioki products from Japan for a long time. Because of the quality and efficiency it gives me. When using the multimeter Hioki DT 4256 I am really impressed with its measurement capabilities. It can perform 11 different parameter measurements for comprehensive power testing. AC / DC voltage measurement: 600.0 mV to 1000V; Hi scale measurement: 40V- 600V & ladder Lo: 80 -60V; measure resistance, measure frequency ... with high accuracy. The ability to measure True-Rms of power parameters with real effective values increases reliability and minimizes errors. The device also features a 100 Hz low-pass filter that helps users accurately measure even harmonic harmonic components. The device supports extremely convenient data access via USB connection port. Especially I own it at a very attractive price, when ordering at Techmaster Electronics J.S.C.
