Rear swaybar fit?
A quick question for all you knowledgeable people out there -
I have a 1972 911S that is missing it's rear swaybar (!) , and now I have located a used 18mm swaybar, from a 1983 SC. Will it fit my car? Thanks for your help! ------------------ 1972 911S Targa ************************ http://home1.swipnet.se/~w-15567/Eleven.htm |

Bo,
No, the '78 SC trailing arms were changed to a bolt-on connection rather than the spherical stud. You need to see if your trailing arms are still stock and have the studs on both trailing arms. The bar may have been removed when a trailing arm was replaced. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

I have a stock 72 swaybar that
can be yours for the price of shipping. Us old 911 guys need to help each other out. However, you might want to consider a bigger bar. This bar is from my S optioned T. Bill 72T |

Bo -- stock early bars are easy to come by for cheap (I like Bill's price) out here in CA. What do you have on the front of the car though? IMHO on the early cars you're well advised to have equal sized swaybars F&R to avoid upsetting the balance of the car. Go bigger on the rear than in the front and you'll be dialing in even more oversteer.
