I started stripping the crud off the floor boards lastnight

and came up with a couple of finger nail size holes near the outer edge of the rear foot wells.

After searching (endlessly) it seems there are two schools of thought here. New school pan replacement, old school patch work..

The pan is overall in very good condition with these small areas being the only real issues. I am considering using sheet metal patches with new school bonding/sealing methods. My main concern is tub strength/rigidity, I do not want to compromise the torsional strength of the car in any way.

Anyone?

i dont think that that area will affect the tortional strength of the car. IMO, the odds of you messing up the car by simply patching a fingernail sized hole are very low. The odds jump quite a bit if you cut out the floor pan and weld in a new one.

Post some pics of the project.

That was exactly my main concern. After reading a few horror stories of guys who had "reputable" people hack in a pan, I really want to make sure I keep the strength.

I will grab a couple of shots at lunch.

Dry ice worked wonders on my rally car's sound deadening, how does it work on the 911's stuff?

I used a heat gun and a paint scraper, and it came off in huge chunks. About 1 hour of work for the whole job.
