cdi and fuel pump question
hi.. i have a 1979 911 coupe that i bought from a guy about two years ago that runs like a new car. but i was wondering how long does the fuel pump and cdi last and how do you know when they are going out. im about to take a kinda long trip and i dont want to break down a long way from home thanks for the help guys.

it stops running
sorry, i just couldnt resist. CD unit- if you are lucky, it will start with intermittant cutting off. mine, i would be driving and the car would just cut off for a split second, it gradually got worse. i repalced it with the MSD unit, they are much cheaper....uh, less expensive. the fuel pump, hopefully the same thing, i had one that would just stop running for a second or 2. also, try checking system pressure and the flow rate if you are so inclined.
