torsion bar marking

I have a set of 18mm torsion bars from a 911 that doesn't seem to have an "L" or "R" mark. It does have this arrow and other mark tho.

Can anybody give me any advice on installing these? which is left and right,,, which side goes in first,, etc.

thanks,,
-Rob

Is there any manufactor's marking? If so, I would check out their website or atleast give them a call. I've only seen torsion bars that have a "L" or "R" marking on them.

Did those come out of your car?
It looks to me like you have 2 for the same side. The arrow would indicate the way the bar is designed to twist and the arrow end should go at the adjuster end.
Now having said that, you could put one on the right with the arrow at the adjuster (counterclockwise rotation) and the one for the left put the arrow end at the front of the car which would give you correct rotation.

Alternately, you could probably find a pair of OEM 19mm from a later car and use those. Lots of guys have upgraded to bigger bars so there should be plenty of 19's for under a $100.

I'm no expert, but some bars come with L/R markings but my Sander's didn't. From what I've read, for those that aren't pre-marked, it doesn't matter which way they go originally, but you woundn't want to flip them after many years of twisting/untwisting in the same direction (and you've dealing with an "unknown" set here). You certainly don't want a t-bar to break, so Tony's suggestion regarding OEM 19mm replacements seems wise imo.
