turbo to carrera tail conversion?
 

I've got a turbo tail on my '87 carrera. I think I'd prefer a carrera tail. Is it possible to make the change by just changing the rubber lip?

I remember seeing an article in Excellece quite a while ago about a guy that did this with a C4. It might have been Turbo Performance Center. Anyway, they added a turbo system to the car and the standard carrera tail would no longer fit. They decided to install a Turbo tail and replaced the rubber lip with one from a Carrera tail. As I recall, they said it was no problem.

Magilla - my car is black on black, just like yours. I haven't seen a carrera tail like you have, though. Is it a factory piece or aftermarket?

Kevin - thanks, I think I heard about that somewhere. I wonder which issue it was in? And I wonder where I can find just the rubber lip...

Check with Pelican. They may be able to sell you the rubber lip.

Some one else on this board said it was a carerra tail from a '77 (I think). That is all I know aout it.

Hi Eric I also have a carrera tail blk/blk car that I would trade for a turbotail where are you located. My car is in the gallery but I dont think the tail is real visible send me your email adddress and I can email you pics of my tail. My car is an 81 911SC.

The tail that is on Magilla's car is an early trubo tail (76-77) that was factory on the turbo. This wing will not accomodate an intercooler and therefore was useless in the 78 year. I have one for sale complete in good shape if anyone is interested.
