Tim,
Beautiful car and welcome aboard! Your story sounds very familiar... just like me almost 5 years ago when I bought my '74 Targa. I have found the people here to be absolutely fantastic and helpful. I simply could not keep my car on the road without Pelicanparts! Do some searches, get Wayne's book and have fun!! |
Thanks for the warm welcome! Just got "Iris" back from the shop where they fixed the twisted shifter by welding it back into the socket in the correct position. I'd posted another question on this board about what might have caused the problem, and wound up getting a quick response with exactly the right answer. Impressive!
Jim727, if you're going to the Redwood PCA breakfast event, I may see you there! :D |
Welcome to the board! Nice looking Targa! A note on the 'Removal of the Carrera script' Use a piece of dental floss and slide it under the emblem. Pull slowly and firmly...if it is too difficult to hold the floss by wraping it around your fingers you can use a couple of screw drivers to create "T" handles. After the badge is off go back and clean off any remaining foam or adhesive with a citrus based cleaner like jkaroyli is recommending.
I use this method frequently when 'de-badging' cars for paint work or emblem replacement. Have fun with your car! I just spent upwards of 4 grand putting Elephant bushings and other suspension upgrades onto my SC...Which just rolled 286,000 miles. It is worth it to spend money on these cars! Cheers, Cooper |
Congrats on your purchase and welcome! You're in for a fun summer! I drove my Targa out to Marin a few times last year, top-off, of course! Stinson Beach, Muir Woods, up and down Hwy 1, it's beautiful over there. Doesn't get any better. Enjoy!
