need help reinstalling petronix distributor points
hello, all. i removed my petronix distributor points a year ago due to flactuating idle. it's running fine now with regular points. i'm getting ready to tune it up in a few weeks. get it ready for the summer. i wanted to reinstall it again. but i lost my petronix installation instructions. does anyone have a copy of it or who knows how to reinstall? i appreciate the help. thank you.

I think Pertronix posts their instructions on their web site. Your're putting the questionable unit back in? BTW, my Pertronix works just fine. Are you sure the spinning magnet rotor was pushed home all the way? It can be difficult to install correctly.

thanks, howard. yes, i'm putting the old back. not sure if the spinning magnet rotor was pushed. how would you know? please advise. thanks.

As I recall, that rotor was so hard to push on that it was difficult to "feel" when it was truly home. I would pre-heat it (gently, maybe 100 degrees) and put a thin film of silicone lube on the cam to help things along. Push firm, try not to cock the rotor. Set your timing on a warm engine when you are done. It should be the last time you will ever do timing.

ok, thanks howard for the tip.
