My car has a B&B system. The bodyshop replaced the rear valance. Notice how it is touching the muffler:
![]() ![]() This is what it looked like before the repair: ![]() Question: is this OK or do I need to have the valance moved away from the muffler? (I'm thinking that the heat coming off the exhaust can't be good for the paint)

It can't be good for the paint and for the valence material (warping)...I thing the valence is supposed to have a heat shield installed there...

That's not ok.
In addition to the heat, the engine/trans/exhaust assembly is soft mounted and moves around. The valance does not. Very ghetto to have the two rubbing against each other. |

OK, now that my concerns have been confirmed, is this and easy fix or do I need to have the shop do it?

Joe,
If the shop F'ed it up, then they should fix it; pronto, and without any grief, if they are a good shop.

What exactly did they fix, and why? Was the car hit in the rear? I doubt the solution lies in moving the motor or exhaust........
Have the shop fix it, they got paid to do it right. Cheers

Joe,
It looks to me like a completely different type of valence. Your old one has a "lip" at the bottom that flares out a little, while the new one has a lip that steps in toward the muffler. Is this the case because it's kind of hard to tell for certain from the photos? Did you intend a change of valence? +1 to Jeff's question.

Ossiblue has a keen eye, I had not caught that. But it appears the parts are quite different. The solution may be in the parts.
Cheers

Need to fix ASAP. The valance will warp, the paint will burn and the entire engine bay will over heat. You need a heat shield and room for the heat to flow away about an inch between the muffler and valance.
