where this hose should go?

hi everyone,

hope everything's well for all.
Since I purchased my Targa I wondered where this hose should connect to.
It is connected to a small plastic "box" connected by other hoses to the fuel filler pipe and to the top of the fuel tank.
The hose that I am wondering about is just left dangling under the carpet.
Needless to say the smell of fuel is always present in the cabin.........
Can anyone tell where should go?
Thank-You Much!!

I don't have a picture handy, but the top, smaller line is supposed to go under the filler tube (right above the two lines) and connects to a metal tube that is kind of under the beginning of the fuse box. It is a pain to get to and to reconnect.

When I get outside in a bit, I will try and remember to take a pic for you.

Dave

EDIT: Ugh, spelling!

Hi Dave!!!
I went searching for it right after you answered and at first I could not find it....
I sneaked out of the Easter Dinner w/the family later just to see if you had posted a pic of the hose....and after a little search there it was.. it could not be seen easily because it all is painted the same color in that area....
Anyway...THANK-YOU it would be nice to also know what is the purpose of this hose.....
I hope my girlfriend will ride in the car w/me next time without all the windows open.......
tnx

Rino,

As you have found out already, it is part of the fuel tank. The hoses have to do with expansion and fuel vapors. The hose that you found is supposed to vent to the outside - through the metal tube that I circled. Your hose is dumping fuel vapors into the front bonnet, which forces air into the cabin, hence the fuel smell.

Reconnect it, and the smell should go away.

Dave
