Question Cooper Zeon 2XS tires

any opinions on these tires? i bought the car in january so i haven't had much time to get acquainted with them. the rears are worn out and need replacing..the fronts have at least 50% life remaining.

any experience with discountedwheelwarehouse in los angeles? claim free shipping on any order. i can get fronts (225/45/17 w-rated) for $90 per tire, (255/40/17 w-rated) for the rear for $105 per tire...$390 for the lot..free shipping? really?

thinking of just getting rears for now. car is street-only...or would it be advisable to just get 4 new? thanks.

smit..sweet! think i should always go with 4 new...or would you keep getting life out of the 50% remaining up front? i've heard that rears tend to wear faster, so was thinking that their rate might eventually match up with the fronts and they'd all be worn at about the same time. nuts? lol.

being in europe and doing most of my driving at 100 mph or better I would do all 4. in the US I would only do the 2 as speeds are not an issue...for the most part. Things to consider would be the general classification of the tire, treadware rate, etc.

I'm running 205/55 and 225/50 on my 85 and they seem to be quite sticky.

Ryan,
I have had Zeon's for the last 50k miles on my Carrera. My father is a senior level manager for Cooper and he got the tires for me at a substantial discount. I have no complaints about them, they grip well in the wet, dry, snow, etc. I recently replaced my fronts after 45k miles and the rears usually last around 25k miles. I have done one track day with them and the tires did a good job. For under $100 a tire I think everyone should take a look at them. Before anyone asks, no I cannot get discounts for everyone--Cooper has really been cracking down on how many sets of tires each person is allowed--people were abusing the program.

haha! you read my mind about discounts! fair enough..very good info. i like the coopers and think i'll order them again. i'm leaning towards just ordering new rears for now, as i've got half tread life at least on the front and sounds as if the fronts last 2x as long. thanks for the reply, dan.

That's cool that you can buy an American made product as well.

yeah, your tires are a little smaller, too, smit. they could use a wee bit more cowbell...

I've been very happy with my 2XS's - they are a great all weather tire and seem to wear reasonably well. Plus I could get 205 55 15's that fit under my stock fenders without rubbing.

Oops, I bought my Bridgestone Blizzak Revo1's for the MazdaSpeed3 from them and I really like those all-weather tires. I have Bridgestone RE950's on Helga and they have served me well. I just put 3300 miles on them in dry/wet and they stick to the road! I'll be wearing tires out more frequently now that the car is running so well.
