Windscreen removal question

Hi everybody,

In a couple of weeks my car will be prepped for a full respray. My question is, what's the chance of breaking the glass if cutting the rubber seal, that is holding the windscreen in place, is no issue (I willl be replacing both front and rear window seal)

Many thanks,

D@vid

The odds of you breaking the glass are alomst zero if you cut the seal first. The only way you would break it is if you dropped it.

David, just beware of the tendency of older glass to get brittle(or maybe develop stress areas prone to cracking). If you have to really muscle it back in, it could crack fairly easily.

FWIW
I have a glass guy that lives 2 houses down from me.That is all he does for a living (R&R glass) at all the body shops in the area 10-12 hours a day.

He said that the 911 is one of the easiests to do and offered to help me when I get around to doing my headliner.

Yes they can get brittle. hit harbor freight and get some big glass suction cups.

BTW he has some really cool tools.
