Warning Light Cluster ('89 Carrera 3.2)

The warning light cluster on the dash (seat belt, brakes, parking brake) on my '89 Carrera does not work.

I bought a new unit and wanted to know if its possible to pull the old unit out from the front or do I need to push it out from behind?

Thanks,

David

I pulled mine (1988) straight out. There is just a simple connection back there, it was a 5 minute, no tools job.

Did you just grab it with some pliers and gave it a yank?

I don't recall needing a tool.
The reason I was changing it was because the front lens had broken off, so perhaps without the lens on it is much more obvious on what to do.
I will look at it when I get home so I can be more specific.

Here are some pics of my old one without the lens (sorry for the poor cell camera quality.)

Anyway as you can kind of see there are two little spring tabs on the top and bottom holding it in. I probably just pried the tabs from the front with a fingernail and slid it out. If you have a new unit, it may be easier to just pry the lens off to gain access to the tabs.

I see the four little spring clips on my new unit. I will see if I can pull the lens off the old part be able to grab onto something...hopefully the old part will then come out with out much resistance.

Thanks!

David

BMWDavid,
Any chance you want to get rid of your old lense? I need a replacement for my 87, just the lense. If yes email me.
