Question Hydraulic Jacks: Hein-Werner 93642 & SPX OTC 1525

Does anybody have any experience with these? I'm looking for a jack that is better quality than the ~$100 Costco jacks and in particular:
1. doesn't creak when loaded
2. is stable during the whole lift
3. lowers smoothly and controllably
4. lift range ~ 3" to 22"
5. easy to move around garage floor
6. ~2 ton capacity
7. $200 to $300

These two jacks seem to fit at least some of my criteria. But I'm hoping to hear from people who use them.

Floor Jack

I own a floor jack which i purchased in Sears for about $110.00 with jack stands fits those descriptions you have listed. I use it regularly not only for my 911 but for the Expedition as well with confidence.

I have a large Hein Werner. Very well built, and unlike the imported crap you can buy parts for it. It will last longer than me.

PBM,

Thanks for the input. Which Hein Werner do you have?

It is very old. I just replaced the seals and greased the wheels. It is like new. I'll post a picture later.

Check out http://www.hyjacks.com they describe all the floor jacks around. HW is now Chinese owned, however currently built in the USA.

According to them Millwaukee or US JACK, then Norco followed by Hein Werner. Good page with lots of info! hope that helps. (I have a Norco I saved from scrap metal and rebuilding, REAL nice. will last a loooong time!)

HWgeek,

That is an excellent site, thanks! I wish that they sold more than just Milwaukee & Norco for their standard size floor jacks though; it seems like they might be a bit biased to maximize their sales.
