I would like to delete the fenderwell mounted washer resevoir and replace it with a smaller resevoir/pump mounted in the trunk. Anyone done this lately and know of a tank that will fit?

I got a later Carrera intensive washer bottle and put it in the SC - talk about easy, all the holes are there and the wiring/plumbing was a piece of cake. I've tidied up since this pic:

Anybody parting out a (84-89) Carrera that has a windshield washer bottle and motor? I got real Yankee dollars to swap for one!

I used the stock pump and ran lines to a 1 liter aluminum bottle I placed in the smugglers box. No rewiring and mass centralization to boot

![]() The only problem is that the pump flows so much so fast you empty the tank surprisingly quickly (and often) if you fit new washer jets and spend about 90 minutes adjusting them.. In real life, you just get used to using a very brief tickle of the stalk.

What did you guys do about the fuel expansion tank that was mounted on top of the washer bottle?

![]() Gary's cool aluminium bottle in the smugglers box was the catalyst for losing the big tank in the SC, I am putting it back on now though as the car is going up for sale, get the headlamp washers back working on there. I am doing the same thing in my C3 - losing the big tank. There is no space to do this intensive tank mod on that car though as the brake fluid reservoir is mounted in that spot, so I will probably put a plastic washer tank in the battery spot when I go to an Odyssey in the smugglers box.

In my street-licenced race car (which still needs to pass a safety inspection that requires a working windshield squirter), I used a plastic Nalgene bottle from REI, attached to the mount for the factory jack at the front of the trunk with a hose clamp. Drilled two holes in the lid for the tubes and done.

This is great inspiration.
John, If you do have a pick of the slot/hole that is required, I'd love to see it. Thanks again, Matt

I went from this:
![]() to this (was able to use an existing hole for mounting): ![]() just to be able to get some brake cooling hoses through to the brake disc from the bumper ( I use the oil cooler duct in the bumper): ![]() Just haven't got to the part where I do the connection yet ![]()
