New sounds
Hi
I just bought my first 911 a 2,4 1972 with mfi, A car very well looked after. Everything is new to me including the noises. When I start the car and the engine is cold, the car makes a strange sound, like banging to pieces of metal together. This sound doesn´t follow the engine cycles and is heard when the car eg stops for red light. After ca. 10 min, when the engine is warm the noise stops. Could it be metal expanding (exhaust?) when the engine is reaching the working temperature. I will appreciate any advice. |

Hello Pete,
Welcome to the Pelican Parts community. I don't don't know what that sound could be, but my car does not make any kind of metal against metal noise. Did you get a pre-purchase inspection on the car? If not, it would be a good idea to find a good Porsche mechanic. There is a lot of easy do-it-yourself stuff that you will find information about here, but there is no substitute for a thoroughly schooled Porsche specific mechanic. Tell where you are from and post a picture of your new baby!
