Early Air Cleaner/Heater Duct paint
I've searched and searched but I can't find a definitive answer on this. My car is a 1970 911T, I believe the air cleaner housing and the heater ducts have the original paint on them. They are in desperate need of a repaint but I've seen both semi-gloss and gloss paint finishes on these parts.
Several early cars I've seen have had the tin parts powdercoated semi-gloss. Looking at the underside of my air cleaner housing and at my heater ducts it appears they were originally a gloss finish. I remember seeing a So which is correct? Here's a pic that shows what I think is a semi-gloss air cleaner housing and a gloss heater duct. ![]() In this early factory picture I can't tell what the finish is.... ![]()

As I recall, mine ('71) was gloss black. Faded a bit now, but still looks like more shine than what I would call "semi-gloss".

Just curious Jim, have you owned your car for a long time or are you a lucky owner who bought your '71 new?

I wish I had bought it new! Got it in May of 1973 with just under 11,000 miles.
It's a family member now.
