restoring fuch's
 

I have just purchase a set of fuch's which were painted in a SC style. I have stripped the paint from the wheels using paint strippers, now i have to polish the wheels and get the finish i want . I am unsure of the process from here. Do i use sandpaper? do i use a wire brush? I have read the articles in the "Tech Info Centre" I was hoping someone here, has undergone this process and share with me a couple of tips on how they went about it to lead me in the direction of getting the finish i want. Thanks.

But in general you want to start with the least agressive media and obviously go finer and finer. Depending on the state of the rims you might get by with red Scotchbrite pads first, then water sand with 600 then 1000 grit, then poilshing compound.

Or you might send them to Al Reed.

Try using the Norton abrasive pads 00, and 000, it gives a nice R type look. You can always polish them out further if you are looking for real shiney.

Cheers. thanks for the advice. I think i may need to get them re-anodised. I have finished stripping them now and there are now a couple shiny spots (beneath the anodising). I have read that using oven cleaner will get all the anodising off.

Lots of threads on this. The yellow label Heavy Duty Easy Off reportedly works best.
