Bought 87 carrera and prev owner took out aftermarket alarm. Now wont start, can I remove or rewire the ignition to bypass the factory alarm as though it did not have one in the first place....is this possible or should I take to a garage that can do it. I am in San Jose California.
Have posted this few weeks ago and appreciate all who tried to help. It is a nice car and would love to drive it. |

Did the car have a Factory AND an aftermarket alarm? The factory alarm module looks for a certain resistance from the key in the door. Aftermarket: who knows?

yes, has factory and aftermarket alarm. The after market is gone, but looks like someone has tried to take out the factory one. The key is in the door jamb, off, I think.
The wires to the horn , down on the steering rack are cut off, two brown wires near the drivers side hood hinge are cut , look like grounds, and two small wires are loose, look like they belonged in the fuse box. The molex connector that comes from the door switch is intact, all other wires intact, two small ones connected to the speedo gauge lights. There is power to the dme and computer, power to the coil, no spark to plugs, motor turns over ok. Thanks for any input you may have. dab |

Just wondering, can the wiring be changed to replicate a car without factory alarm, bypass the alarm circuit?
Just a thought. |

Always problems with 2 alarms. It might not be the dme-relay?
