Crankcase breather question

I've searched this forum and could use some help.

Where does the small outlet from the crankcase go? The motor is a 2.2E with Webers and am buying a K&N filter setup. The large tube will connect to a custom breather tower.

Well I just figured out that it is the MFI pump's oil drain pipe. The PO of my car, who converted it to Webers, connected the other end of the charcoal canister line to that outlet. Apparently it used to connect to the air filter housing.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I can only say that small tube does not exist on a 1980 sc.

You don't need that tube for anything. I'd just cap it off. The large tube should go to the oil tank. A second large tube from the oil tank goes to the breather tower you are installing.

The smaller tube on the MFI crankcase breather console isn't needed with carbs. It doesn't exist on factory carbed engines. You can safely plug it.

I suggest not plumbing the large crankcase breather hose directly to a catch can (it normally attaches to the oil tank). The can will quickly fill as there is high velocity air/oil in that hose. Instead, plumb the breather hose from the oil filler tube into the catch can. The crankcase air and oil from this source is somewhat separated via its journey first through the oil tank.

Sherwood - what does one do with the 'large opening' in the breather cap then? Close it off? Or does that hose run somewhere else, when the catch can is attached to a hose from the oil tank filler tube?

Leave the large breather hose unmolested. It goes from the cover to the oil tank. In addition, the factory hose material is fabric and tends to weep oil when old. Keep an eye on it.

First off sorry to resurect an old post.

BUT, a little help would be awesome. The above pic shows all I have questions on.

First what are the two wires attached to the breather cover for. Some sort of temp device I think.

Second whats the best way to get the oil pressure switch out. I tried and was unable to get a good hold on in, so instead of chancing braking something I took a break and ended up here.

I need to mention the engin is in the car and its a 73 with MFI

Thanks
