Engine running rough
I'm trying to pin point the cause of my engines poor performance. Since firing her up a few weeks ago, it seems to be struggling for fuel. I targeted the staple items. Plugs were decent, changed them anyways. Cap looks fairly clean along with rotor. I ordered replacements for the heck of it. I took her for a quick spin once she was warmed up (Italian tune up). Once i get past the initial sputtering it starts to feel a little better, but still struggles. The exhaust seems to have a slight miss note, but it doesnt seem to be missing...idles fine. Fuel filter is about two years old...i am thinking this is my next item.
Any thoughts? Prior to this spring she was running perfect. I'm thinking the 1/8 tank of fuel may have seperated? I aded some Techron. Would it make sense to fill her up with some new fuel to dillute the remaining fuel? any suggestions appreciated |
Fresh fuel is a good idea, if i plan not to drive the car for a while, I fill the tank and add some fuel treatment. This way condensation would not effect the fuel that much.

Your ignition cables could be bad even if they look new. Try spraying a little water on them while the engine is idling and that should tell you all you need to know.
